A. I've found that in most urban environments in the UK, the weather is never bad enough to prevent you getting to where you're going, but it will take you much longer. You should set off much earlier than normal, make sure your vehicle is in good condition (all fluid levels good), plenty of screenwash and take warm clothing, maybe even a flask of tea/coffee and some nibbles. Drive defensively, and do not make sudden control movements.

What's your guess as to the accuracy of weather forecasts?
Q. I may be mistaken, but in this neck of the woods, forecasters are correct less than 50-percent of the time. For example, recent Warnings of freezing rain were cancelled when the weatherman looked out the window. They're making big bucks too. Now in MY line of work (brain surgeon), I get into serious trouble if I'm not operating at a perfect 100-percent. On Monday, for example, my rusty scalpel slipped - dammit - and now I have to appear before an investigative committee. Here's my latest forecast: There's a chance of a tsunami, tornado, hurricane, heavy snow, rain, blistering sunshine, light winds or strong winds, somewhere near you. So don't say you weren't warned.

A. No human has control over the weather and there are no tools or methods of making it more controllable. For me, the weather forecast is best for temperature readings and that's about it. A weather forecast is an interpretation from the information we gather from satellites and other technology.

Will tomorrow most likely be a snow day in Ottawa, Ontario?
Q. well theres a HUGE snow storm here, and im hoping it will be a snow day.. this is for ottawa ontario we usually have snow days if theres alot of frezzing rain and traffic is bad. this is what my weather forcast says: heavy snow followed by some freezing rain this evening then back to snow. this is a warning that dangerous winter weather conditions are imminent or occurring in these regions. monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. the storm system is currently moving across southeast michigan and is expected to track just north of lakes erie and ontario this evening and just south of ottawa overnight. snow heavy at times is affecting regions north of the track of the low including most of ski country and eastern… [cont.]
