Where can I find archived Winter Storm Warnings for Westchester, NY?
Q. I'd like to correlate days when my college has had snow days with the National Weather Service's issuance of Winter Storm Warnings. If the warnings have always foretold a closing, we could give our faculty, staff, and students more notice in the future. So I need to be able to find a record of when Warnings have been issued over the past several years. I've poked around on the NOAA site, but haven't found these.

A. Normally, Weather Warnings issued by the NWS are archived at the National Climate Data Center (ncdc.noaa.gov) The office in Upton issues the warnings for Westchester County and they may have some archived locally as well. It is likely you can use the webmaster contact on their web page to find out if they do have the warnings archived. If they do not, then NCDC would be the only other likely place and they have a tendency to charge for their services.

Do traffic warnings get reported to insurance?
Q. I recently got pulled over for going 69 in a 45. I was lucky because it was my first offense and i was polite, the officer only issued a written warning and told me to slow down. My question is, do warnings like this get reported to insurance companies? He told me i wont get any points or fines, but im only worried about my insurance rate going sky high (im 17 on a provisional drivers license). I live in maryland and was pulled over in Baltimore county.

How do those low tire pressure warnings work in newer cars?
Q. Is it just a light that comes on when tire pressure drops significantly? Or does it actually tell you which tire is dangerously low? I currently do not have that type of system in my car.

A. there are sending units in each wheel that work on radio wave frequencies. they can be simple, just to turn on a light, and it's up to a human to determine which one, or, in more upper end cars, they can specifically tell you which tire. usually they will work when the tire is more than 6 psi too low, but that varies between brands.since we don't know what kind of car you have(a little info would have been nice) this is a 'nutshell' explaination of the system. your owners manual can explain it further.
