Medical

Medicine is the science and art of healing. It encompasses a variety of health care practices evolved to maintain and restore health by the prevention and treatment of illness.

Contemporary medicine applies health science, biomedical research, and medical technology to diagnose and treat injury and disease, typically through medication, surgery, or some other form of therapy. The word medicine is derived from the Latin ars medicina, meaning the art of healing.

Though medical technology and clinical expertise are pivotal to contemporary medicine, successful face-to-face relief of actual suffering continues to require the application of ordinary human feeling and compassion, known in English as bedside manner.

What book should I read to learn how to use medical billing software?
Q. Do you have any suggestions? There are a lot of screens in medical billing software and I would like to buy a book that shows me what to do with every one of them. Should I buy a book that tells how to use a specific kind of medical billing software like Medical Manager or are there books available that tell what to enter into each screen of any kind of medical billing software. Most programs like Medical Mastermind and Medical Manager are similar.

A. I teach medical billing and coding. I don't know of any book that teaches all of them. I would recommend that you are up on your Word, Excel, Access and Outlook as many employers want them. In the past I taught Lytec although now I only teach Medisoft. I have used Medical Manager in one office. I've not heard of nor used Medical Mastermind. Virtually all of them are windows based in some way. My experience has been that every hospital and doctor's office has their own software tailored to their specialty. For example a cardiology office software would be different from a dermatology office. If you wish you can check out your local community college, adult school and ROP program to see what they are teaching. Most places teach Medisoft. You… [cont.]

How much do these jobs make: medical sales, vice president, a plastic surgeon, a medical investment analyst?
Q. I'm about to apply medical school and am almost done with an MS in BME. I really want to be a doctor, but have always been interested in medical investments also. My parents do not want me to be and never have encouraged me to be a doctor even though I enjoy it and have good grades. I am planning on ignoring there wishes, and pursuing medicine, but am also interested in maybe trying to find a consulting job or working during studies, and maybe medical investing down the line.

A. Medical Sales incomes will depend on the company, the product, and inscentives Vice President Biden makes $230700/year in Salary. A plastic surgeon might make $200k/year, might make $2,000,000/year. Depends on where he practices, what his specialty is, and how successful he is. I have no idea what a Medical Investment Analyst would make - I have never heard of this position.
