Q. Michael Crichton thinks environmentalism is a religion and man-made global warming is bogus. He also says "I can tell you that DDT is not a carcinogen" and "I can tell you that second hand smoke is not a health hazard to anyone and never was, and the EPA has always known it." Of course, the EPA, National Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society, British Columbia Cancer Agency, etc. disagree. A. Wow. I never got past the first link with this. When I googled DDT and carginogen, I found the following two sites: This gave me a better feel for where Crichton was coming from. I also found this site: This is from Cornell University, a source I've found to be reliable, last source quoted in references is 1991. In it is the following statements: "The evidence regarding the carcinogenicity of DDT is equivocal." and "The available epidemiological evidence regarding DDT's carcinogenicity in humans, when taken as a whole, does not suggest that DDT and its metabolites are carcinogenic in humans at likely dose levels." A. You won't get your information all in one persons answer and hopefully you didn't wait till the last minute to do this! Man- made disasters are like Terrorism attacks in New York. Go online and type in each one ( one at a time and see what comes up.) For #7 I would see if there was a case study done on Katrina in New Orleans. In conclusion I would add in doing your research for this project you realized just how important it is to plan for Natural and man-mad disasters. One should always be well prepared for any disaster in order for survival.We are all responsible for our own health and preparedness and should not sit back waiting for government or others to rescue you.
