The Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA, is an agency of the United States Department of Homeland Security, initially created by Presidential Order on 1 April 1979. The primary purpose of FEMA is to coordinate the response to a disaster that has occurred in the United States and that overwhelms the resources of local and state authorities. The governor of the state in which the disaster occurs must declare a state of emergency and formally request from the president that FEMA and the federal government respond to the disaster. FEMA also provides these services for territories of the United States, such as Puerto Rico. The only exception is when an emergency or disaster occurs on federal property or to a federal asset, for example, the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, or the Space Shuttle Columbia in the 2003 return-flight disaster. While on-the-ground support of disaster recovery efforts is a major part of FEMA's charter, the agency provides state and local governments with experts in specialized fields and funding for rebuilding efforts and relief funds for infrastructure, in conjunction with the Small Business Administration. FEMA also assists individuals and businesses with low interest loans. In addition to this, FEMA provides funds for training of response personnel throughout the United States and its territories as part of the agency's preparedness effort. From Wikipedia under the

From Google Video Search: "fema" My car got damaged by tree of the ice storm in Kansas which is under disaster declaration. Will Fema pay? Q. A tree branch that fell down because of ice landed on the top and totaled my car. Kansas is under disaster assistance as of the day it happened. I only have liability insurance and so have no way to fix it or get money for it. Will fema provide any assistance? Do you know why they won't? Asked by Joseph P - Wed Dec 12 21:52:02 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. FEMA will not pay for this particular incident because it is not an emergency situation. Besides, damage to vehicles caused by natural disasters is paid for by "comprehensive" coverage (not liability) but it sounds like you chose not to buy this coverage from your insurer. So you will have to come up with the money yourself to repair the car. I know this is not what you want to hear, but that's exactly why insurance companies offer comprehensive and why it pays to get it if you live in an area (like Kansas) that is prone to "severe weather." If you can't afford expensive car repairs, then that's exactly why you should have gotten comprehensive and collision. It's easier to pay a little more in premiums each month… [cont.] Answered by Veritas T.A.I. - Fri Dec 14 17:38:23 2007 What should be done to the traitor and America hater that leaked the news that FEMA faked a news conference?
